Book Review: Enchanted to Meet You

I wish I could grant this book a magnificent 6-star rating out of 5; that’s how much I relished every aspect of it. The narrative style, the effortless flow of dialogues between characters, the captivating storyline, and the sheer unpredictability of the mystery woven throughout the novel all contributed to an extraordinary reading experience.

“Enchanted to Meet You” introduces us to a witch whose magical journey commenced with a book she received as a young girl. However, despite her proficiency in magic, the established council of witches refuses to recognize her as a rightful member of the magical community. She lacks inherited powers and doesn’t belong to any coven. Her world takes a surreal twist when a charismatic male witch arrives at her boutique office, revealing that she is the Chosen One responsible for saving their small town from impending doom.

Before picking up this book, my knowledge of Meg Cabot was limited to “The Princess Diaries,” which I’ve only experienced through the movies (which I adored). It’s a common reader sentiment – the books often outshine their film adaptations. After reading “Enchanted to Meet You,” I’m eager to delve into Meg Cabot’s other literary works. Based on the mastery showcased in this latest story, I believe she’s an exceptional storyteller, and I’m certain her other books will captivate me just as much.

Derrick and Jessica, our pragmatic, no-nonsense magical duo, shine as a couple dedicated to saving West Harbor from impending disaster. Jessica’s character exudes a serene resilience, unwavering in the face of negativity. Derrick, on the other hand, is refreshingly straightforward, wearing his feelings for Jessica on his sleeve. This focused narrative on the couple’s mission to rescue West Harbor, rather than dwelling on the trials of mutual understanding, elevates the story beyond clichés.

The intriguing epilogue has me speculating about a potential sequel, and I eagerly anticipate its release. Meg Cabot has conjured a tale that is nothing short of magical, promising to delight readers just as much as her famous “The Princess Diaries” series.
